No but seriously, I do.
As I've been talking about since last summer, my old roommate (and one of my favorite people in the world) Lauren got married this weekend. Lauren and I met the old fashioned way: On Craigslist. The rent in my absurdly overpriced studio in Chicago was going up, and I decided to try my hand at finding an internet roommate. It was love at first e-mail. The first two months we were roommates, she basically lived with her boyfriend Kyle, who was in Chicago for the summer. At the time I didn't mind because he is the greatest, but now that he up and married her and moved her to JAPAN I'd like those two months back OK KYLE? You selfish, selfish man (I guess leaving to serve your country isn't THAT selfish, grumble grumble). We only lived together for about six months before I up and moved to Atlanta (sorry, Lauren), but those six months were long enough for us to bond over a mutual love of hummus, Harry Potter, and sitting on a gross couch watching TLC shows on Friday nights instead of going out. So anyway, a few weeks before the wedding, Team LoMo flew into Austin, TX for a Bachelorette festivity filled weekend. The following things occurred:
I ran through an airport and may have become the first person in the history of the world to convince a gate agent to OPEN THE DOOR after it had already been closed #bachelorettemiracle
We ate. A lot.We shopped.
We spent quality time in dresses- which was MUCH needed, since Atlanta Snowmageddon Round 2 had just occurred
We went out on the town, made some friends with dudes claiming to be Harvard grads (naturally)
Couldn't get a cab, so we took rickshaws back to the Airbnb rental
I project runway-ed a new dress from a safety pin in a bar bathroom
As you can probably guess, it was a huge success, and I would like Lauren & Kyle to get married again so we can have another LoMoBash. My dress came home with some inexplicable dirt stains on it (don't worry Mom, I got them out)
Without further adieu- some images from the festivities...and prepare to see a lot of penis themed things because, duh.
The tiniest bachelorette you ever did see.
Sundresses in February
Penis straws, so necessary
Girl gets down.
She makes 5'3 look tall
Best Bridesmaids ever
Everyone who knows me, knows I love guns
I thought Austin was only this nuts during SXSW...turns out it's always like this
The flight home was a joy, as you can imagine
And look who got his own souvenir
We love you, LoMo!
These two are seriously straight out of a Nicholas Sparks novel. I'd hate it if I didn't love them so much. Congratulations, Lauren & Kyle. May you have a wonderful life together, filled with many, MANY trips to Navy Pier.
