I think we all know my feelings on online dating: I fully support any friend who takes part, but I am wayyyyy too socially awkward to be going on blind dates. I prefer to go the friend route- let them know what a complete weirdo I am for awhile and THEN if they want to date me, they've at least been forewarned. I realize this is a very backwards way to approach dating. I also realize I'm almost 27 and single so maybe we shouldn't be taking advice from me, eh?
A couple of weeks ago, the folks from Hinge reached out to me about launching their new app in Atlanta. As a big, giant tech nerd who needs to be on the pulse of any new app, I was immediately intrigued.
Per Hinge's website:
"As seen in Mashable, Washington Post and TechCrunch, Hinge Dating App Launches in Atlanta.
Being Single in Atlanta JUST got better! New dating app connects Singles with friends of friends. Hinge is a next-generation dating app, stemming from the belief that technology should enhance our real-world lives, not displace them. By sifting through your extended social network, learning your “types” overtime, and making warm introductions, Hinge offers an authentic dating alternative to a historically contrived experience. Led by founder Justin McLeod, venture-backed Hinge is already live in NYC, DC, Philly, San Francisco, Chicago, and Boston- seeing consistent 25% monthly growth and unheard of engagement with the average member logging in 45+ times per month.
HOW IT WORKS:
1) Every day at noon, receive a batch of potential matches. They’ll all be friends of friends, or their friends.
2) Favorite people you’re interested in, pass on the ones you aren’t.
3) When you favorite someone, you’ll secretly appear in their batch. If they favorite you too, we’ll provide a clever introduction.
Your favorites are always anonymous unless there’s mutual interest – so there’s never any rejection."
I for one, fully support anything that avoids rejection at all costs. So if you're into online dating- download the app here. If not now, when, amirite?

So anyway- what goes hand in hand with dating? DRINKING, DUH. Thanks to the Hingers, I scored 25 invitations to their privat, open bar launch party at Whiskey Blue on the W Buckhead rooftop TONIGHT. If you're interested, RSVP here: http://atlanta.hinge.co/
