The other day, Mal and I were discussing how hilarious/obnoxious life problems are when you grow up a living stereotype. Huge problems, like getting dumped by the love of your life, feels like the most depressing thing in the entire world- AND IT HAPPENS TO EVERYONE. It's not unique to you. The world might feel like it's caving in, but guess what? You're not the only person with this problem. If you didn't have this problem, THEN you would be the only person.
In a sick way, it's kind of comforting. I think that's where the terms #whitegirlproblems and #thirdworldproblems stemmed from. We all have our problems. I am the queen of feeling guilty for my emotions. Sure, something terrible happened to me- but something worse is happening to lots of other people, at any given time. But you know what? I'm allowed to feel bad when something hurts. I'm allowed to cry if my iphone breaks, or if Netflix doesn't work abroad. Yes, our problems may be stupid sometimes: but they're still our problems, and we deal with them as we can. And my #1 way to deal with any problem? Humor.
Enter- the song of my life. Everybody knows Lorde's new single Royals, because it's everywhere. Literally. EVERYWHERE. I have officially heard it in three countries in the last 36 hours. But this parody version is my life story. And I'm not upset about it one bit. Memorize it. Learn it. Live it.
