I have always been a voracious reader. Growing up, my family went backpacking all the time, and instead of making me carry my own equipment, my wonderful parents hauled all of my crap so I could fill my backpack with books. In third grade, I wasn't allowed to participate in field day because I was on the "bad kids" list. How did I get there? By getting in trouble one too many times reading books under my desk, rather than paying attention to the teacher. To this day, I don't go anywhere without a book, just in case I have five minutes of downtime. So you get it now, I'm a regular Rory Gilmore.
Before you let yourself be impressed though, let me go ahead and tell you just how many of those books were of the Sweet Valley persuasion. Sure, I've read the Great Books. But I've also read possibly every Sweet Valley book EVER. We're talking Kids, Twins, Jr. High, When I see SVU, I don't think Stabler and Benson- I think Sweet Valley University...I even bought Sweet Valley Confidential when it came out in 2011 (Sorry Dad, I know they're terrible). Not so much because I thought it would actually be good, but really just because at this point, I might as well.
Last week, one of my coworkers posted this hilarity to Facebook, and I'm still cracking up.
And this friends, is why I love the internet. What were some of your childhood guilty pleasures?
