We all know the expression "Home is where the heart is". Personally, it's always bothered me because my heart is all over the place, and also, what kind of sentence ends on a preposition? A grammatically incorrectone does, so just, no.
This weekend, J and I traveled to Chicago for the wedding of one of my sorority sisters (which was absolutely incredible and beautiful and I will obviously do a follow up post, because the pictures are too great not to share). The first night we got there, we threw our stuff down and J's sister's condo, and started walking to find dinner. If you know me, you know my number one complaint about Atlanta is that it's not "a real city", where delivery i cheap and easy, BYOB is on every corner, and you can walk absolutely everywhere you'd possibly need to go. People in the south like their land. Give me a high rise condo with twelve Starbucks within a mile radius any day. We wound up at one of my favorite old stomping grounds, Public House. We totally swiped a cab from a drunk girl upon leaving, and I literally frolicked under the city lights that entire night. It felt so amazing to back in the land of Standalone Benefit stores, public transit, and taxis.
Then, yesterday, we we ready to come home. We flew standby, because my Dad is a commercial airline pilot and it's about a thousand times cheaper to go standby (and a thousand times more annoying) than buying ticket. Long story short, we got to the airport, saw how full the flights were, and promptly turned around to go back to J's parents house. It was nice to see them for a little longer, but we missed our bed. Also, we woke up at 4am to make a 6am flight.
So where am I going with this long winded essay? You're probably asking yourself by now. The answer is in this awesome quote I found below (as usual, per Pinterest)
It's so true. Idaho is my home. Chicago is my home. My friends and family are my home. And now, Atlanta is finally my home too. And it feels GREAT to be home.
Great quote! I'm going to have to swipe this one and share. Since moving to Seattle I've been terribly homesick and can't wait to go back to Chicago and see a "real city"
