Latest Reads

I have always been obsessed with reading. In 3rd grade I was always in trouble with my teacher because I never paid attention to her and just read books under my desk (and also she was terrible, but let's move on).  Especially  now that it's summer, my favorite weekend hobby is sitting in the shade, by the pool, and reading on my ipad. It's my goal to read 2-3 books every month.
I don't know what it is about reading that is so fulfilling. If I spend an entire Saturday watching TV, I feel lazy.  If I spend an entire weekend reading a book, I feel great. Here are some of my latest reads:

I just finished Revenge Wears Prada on my vacation last week.  I heard a lot of negative things about this sequel to The Devil Wears Prada (one of my absolute favorites!) but I enjoyed the read. It was quick, with a fun storyline.  Andy is all grown up, married, and having a baby. I was a little disappointed in the ending, but I would totally recommend this book.

I, along with everyone else read this book a few months ago as a part of book club for Levo League. I liked the message, but I found it frustrating.  There are some useful pointers for those of us who are fairly young in our careers (find a mentor, etc.) but a lot of it was the typical complaining about millenials and mean girls in the office. I think it was a little overrated, personally.

I love Sophie Kinsella- the Shopaholic series has always been one of my favorites. Her book Remember Me is one of my go-tos when I'm bored and feel like re-reading something familiar.  Sadly, Wedding Night was not the Sophie gem I'm used to. I found it irritating and kind of stupid. I definitely think this one was a waste of an iTunes giftcard.

My aunt sent me Wife 22 a few months ago, and I finally got around to reading it last month. It's the story of a former Advertising executive who "retired" to become a suburban housewife and has grown frustrated and bored with her marriage. She joins a survey about marriage and starts communicating with the proctor, more than is necessary, if you get my drift.  There's a good twist at the end, too. I really enjoyed this one.

I might be the last person to discover the Divergent series, but holy hell, did I love these books.  Any fans of the Hunger Games will devour these! I don't know what it is about the Teen Fiction, distopian society books, but they are really fun.  They are a little bit TOO Hunger Games like at some points (ok, the author maybe copied a bit) but I still loved them. Can't wait for the movies to come out next year!

To see more of my favorites, find me on Goodreads! I'm always looking for a good book recommendation  too, so PLEASE leave them in the comments or email me if you have one!
