Two years ago almost to the day, BF packed up and moved from the apartment neighboring mine in Chicago, to a new job 2,000 miles away in Portland, Oregon. To say I was sad is an understatement. Had I been forced to bet on it, I would have bet against us (optimism hasn't been a strong suit of mine). Right before he left, I went to one of my favorite stationary stores in Lakeview, called Inkling. Along with a going away card, I found a book that told me exactly what I needed to hear:
Everything Is Going to Be OK- Chronicle Books
I snatched it up immediately. It's basically a Pinterest board in book form- full of beautiful and insightful statements. For the next two years (who am I kidding, I still do this!) anytime I felt like everything was falling apart, I opened the book to a random page. Somehow, the pages always gave me the words I needed to feel a little bit better. On that first day, this is the page I opened to:
It was then that I decided not to let any amount of miles ruin something special. Cheesy, but true. Since that day, this little gem has perked up many a bad day, and made many great days better. Here are some of my favorite pages:
