Day 2 Favorite Places

Photo Challenge Day 2- What is your favorite place that you've ever been?
Lake Louise, Banff Canada
It's hard to narrow down the best places I've ever been, because I've been very lucky to have travelled often. Nearly every member of my family has lived in another country for a period of time- whether for work, studying abroad, the Peace Corps, military, etc. I used to be jealous of my friends who went on beach vacations every year, but now that I'm older, I'm so thankful to my parents for being a little out of the box. I've hiked glaciers, whitewater rafted in FREEZING water in Canada, stood on top of the Acropolis, slept in the sketchiest hostel ever outside of Termini station after exploring Rome on a solo trip, parasailed in Mexico with my amazing BF, driven the Columbia River Gorge, killed a Blackberry by jumping in the waves of the Pacific Ocean at the Oregon coast, Eurailed through Spain, and visited a zoo dedicated solely to marmots in the Pyrenees. If I could pull an Eat, Pray, Love, I would absolutely do it, in a heartbeat. BF and I have an agreement that if either of us is ever given the opportunity to live abroad, the other will quit their job, we'll shotgun wedding, and go, no questions asked.
Pau, France
After all that though, I've come to realize: there really is no place like home. I grew up in a small town (under 10k people) in the Pacific Northwest, and complained about it all throughout high school. Of course now I know that there is no better place in the entire world, and I am so privileged to call this place home. Unfortunately, it's very hard, and very expensive to get to (two three hour flights and a 90 mile drive from the nearest airport) so I don't get home nearly as often as I'd like. My best friend I lives in LA, and we always try to sync up our trips home, and its always like nothing has changed. It doesn't hurt when your hometown is named the most beautiful small town in the US by USAA, either ;). Ok, ok done with my bragfest. But honestly, if you're ever in the Northwest, look up Sandpoint, ID- and then just TRY and argue with me. I promise, you won't!
Home sweet home!
What are some of y'all's favorite places to visit?
